SDC Plasma Carburizing Treatment equipment
New Technology for Low-Temperature Plasma Carburizing Treatment of
Titanium and Stainless Steel
Recently, SDC-Tanaka has seen a remarkable
expansion in the demand for titanium and the development of
new uses of this metal as mechanical parts, thanks to its
characteristics of light weight, excellent corrosion resistance
and strength. However, titanium use has been limited due to
its poor wear resistance, so we he have developed technological
solutions to prevent galling and fretting wear.
Our technology is employed in titanium parts
used by NASDA for the International Space Station. In order
to prevent the deterioration of the mechanical properties
of titanium alloys and the corrosion resistance of stainless
steel, the process has to be taken place in relatively low-temperature
zone, below 700°C.
Upon receiving approval from NEDO (New Energy
Development Organization), we developed and manufactured SDC
Plasma Carburizing Treatment furnace that combines a gas quenching
type vacuum furnace with a high performance micro-pulse plasma
generator.
This furnace is a hybrid furnace that can
be used to carry out aging process and plasma carburizing
of titanium alloys simultaneously. As a product of advanced
technology, this furnace can be used for a wide range of products
including aerospace parts, automotive parts and food, beverage,
pharmaceutical production equipments.
And it is making a major contribution to industry as a next
generation surface engineering processing device.
