Under the guidance of Professors Emeritus Inagaki and Fukuda from the Institute for Chemical Research, Kyoto University, Takenaka Seisakusho succeeded in developing Nanotect, a ultra high-performance treatment material using carbon nanotubes or CNTs. The first such development ever, this project is the result of cooperation of industry, government and academia, and metal products with the Nanotect coating are now available on the market.
This new product is a completely new surface treatment material having ductility while maintaining super-high hardness thanks to the nanotechnology employed. This technology effectively blocks the conductivity typically found in CNTs, giving the film surface an advanced degree of resistance to corrosion.
With this successful technological development and advanced strength film product, Takenaka Seisakusho intends to advance a global expansion of coatings for further domination in this product area while maintaining their status as a top manufacturer.
Nanotect was selected by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry as one of the Strategic Basic Technology Advancement Support Projects from 2006 to 2008. In 2009, it received the Superior Product Award for Small and Medium Business Superior New Technologies and Products as well as the Engineering Administration Special Award from the Resona Foundation for Small and Medium Enterprise Promotion with sponsorship from Business Line.
