The main products of glass manufacturers include bottles, dishes, special glass, ampoules, glass for science and medical applications, marbles and beads, and other glass products essential for our daily life. A variety of methods are employed and may be completely manual, mechanized or semi-mechanized, with a focus always on producing glass products that are safe to use.
It is said that the glass industry in Osaka got its start in the 1750s when Seibei Harimaya founded a factory next to Tenma shrine and began glass production.
Then in 1876, the Osaka Glass Industry and Commerce Partnership was established as the first glass association in Japan. Two decades later in mid-1898, the Osaka Prefectural Glass Manufacturer Partnership was then formed. After various other developments, the Osaka Glass Association was founded and remains today as an important part of the glass industry in Japan.
Members of the Osaka Glass Association produce a wide range of products, such as bottles, dishes, illumination, ampoules, special glass, glass for science and medical applications, marbles and beads, with most products being those made for use in the home.
