Makishinko: Supporting society with gear technology
Worm gear reducer
Worm gear reducers are a long-selling product of Makishinko. By exquisitely combining our unique gear technology, we have launched a new series that improves the transmission efficiency of our worm gear reducers by more than 10% compared to previous models. In addition, we are continuously developing next-generation models that meet customer needs, including low noise and joint development of special lubricants and gear materials tailored to specific needs.
jack
Inheriting the technology cultivated in worm gear reducers, we offer a full range of strokes to meet customer requirements. The screw shafts include trapezoidal screws with self-locking functionality and ball screws with low backlash and no holding force, allowing selection based on application. We employ tapered roller bearings capable of withstanding thrust loads, resulting in an ideal bearing structure.
Rotary Stocker (Vertical Rotating Automatic Shelving)
Space-saving storage, speed picking
● Advantages of Rotary Stocker
This enables smart material and component picking.
To shorten loading and unloading times
To save storage space
To reduce inventory
For factory maintenance and tidying
● Can be used in a wide range of fields
We can manufacture products with specifications tailored to your specific needs (standard, stainless steel, etc.), and we offer a wide variety of load capacities.
We support industry by providing fast turnaround times for custom-made speed reducers and jacks.
Job description: A wide range of projects from conveyor belt sushi to rockets.
The company's main products include worm gear reducers that reduce the rotational speed of a motor and increase it to the required torque, screw jacks that convert the rotational motion of a motor into linear motion, and gear motors. In addition, they also manufacture material handling products such as rotary stockers (vertical rotating automatic shelves). President Junji Makimura says, "Our main products, the reducers and jacks, are mechanical components, so they have a wide range of applications." They are used not only in general industrial machinery, but also in everyday items such as conveyors in conveyor belt sushi restaurants, and on a grand scale, in the transport equipment and parabolic antenna drive units of rockets that launch artificial satellites.
Strengths: Well-regarded for its extensive standard inventory maintenance service.
By creating a series of products, they have a large inventory of standard items, boasting an impressive 36,000 worm gear reducers alone, far surpassing their competitors. Particularly valued by users are their maintenance service capabilities and their ability to handle custom orders, which account for 80-90% of their sales. They deliver products with short lead times while accommodating detailed designs such as shaft length and hole positions. On one occasion, when a customer needed a gear reducer immediately to restart equipment that had been submerged in a typhoon, employees used work-in-progress parts to complete a custom gear reducer and delivered it the next day. President Makimura smiles as he says, "I still remember how happy the customer was."
Development Capabilities: Development that thoroughly pursues the potential of gear reducers.
Worm gear reducers offer many advantages, such as easy design layout and the ability to achieve large reduction ratios with a compact mechanism. However, their weakness has historically been low transmission efficiency. To address this, the material of the worm section has been changed from special aluminum bronze to high-strength brass, and surface roughness has been improved through precision machining. As a result, a series with a transmission efficiency 10% higher than conventional models is now being developed. Furthermore, to meet customers' needs for shortening machine design time, geared motors integrated with the motor are also being developed. Meanwhile, with the aim of shortening and improving the precision of in-house development, the company has begun joint development of strength calculation software with a university, demonstrating its constant and active development efforts.
Future Outlook: Opening up the market with ultra-lightweight worm gear reducers
In December 2015, the company launched an ultra-lightweight worm gear reducer, which had been developed over approximately 10 years. The casing was changed from cast iron to aluminum die-cast. For a 50mm center-to-center size, the gear reducer, which previously weighed 10kg, was reduced to half that weight, 5kg. President Makimura believes that introducing this ultra-lightweight model, which "users had been requesting to be commercialized for a long time," will bring benefits to many customers. For example, in stage equipment, if the weight of the gear reducers used for stage curtains, of which up to 200 are installed on the ceiling, is halved, the structural design becomes much easier. There is also a great deal of potential demand for lighter weight in automotive equipment, among other applications.
Our company history
Starting with gear sales, we have expanded our business to include gear manufacturing and worm gear reducers that combine gears. Subsequently, leveraging our worm gear technology, we have entered the material handling market by developing screw jacks, bevel gearboxes, and automated storage racks, expanding our scope of business while maintaining a balance between these areas.
In addition to having a large inventory of standard worm gear reducers, we also specialize in handling custom orders for small lots and short lead times.
