Taiwan High-Speed Rail

Universal Line

Electrical integration signals, contact signals, and analog signals can be freely transmitted together over a pair (two) of wires.
This technology enables time-division multiplexing (DPP) transmission of signals over long distances and across wide areas.
Its noise-resistant properties have led to its use in monitoring substations for the Taiwan High-Speed Rail.

Universal Line - Usage by Application

The longer the transmission distance, the greater the benefit of reduced wiring.

Furthermore, this wiring-saving, multiplex transmission universal line has no restrictions on wiring methods, allowing for the creation of user-friendly systems with flexible wiring layouts.

It can also be used in systems for monitoring factory operations, equipment, and progress.

Usage example

The factory equipment comprehensive monitoring system is a system that enables smooth equipment maintenance by monitoring various equipment within the factory and managing various information (operation monitoring, progress monitoring, etc.).
For example, by organically monitoring and recording equipment such as temperature measurement of equipment, machinery, and products, operating time (operation monitoring), and power consumption, it becomes possible to efficiently handle maintenance.

1) Multi-point monitoring, control, and measurement with minimal wiring!
2) For energy conservation management!
3) For centralized management of factory equipment and machinery!
4) For power management and management of substations!
5) Multi-point temperature measurement and humidity control are also possible!
6) Expand your system by combining it with wireless and LAN!

The objectives of DX in the manufacturing industry are:
Improvement of productivity and quality,
Shortening lead time,
Improvements to working conditions are one example.

For this purpose, on-site information is "digitized".
This system enables "collection," "visualization," and "sharing."

Because on-site information can be easily shared, DX (Digital Transformation) can be promoted smoothly.

Six features of a local DX system

1) System can be built without the need for cloud or servers.
2) Real-time effective use of raw field data
3) Multiple management possible with a single system
4) One-stop service from planning to operation
5) Long-term stable operation possible
6) High compatibility with existing server systems

Monitoring system for reduced wiring transmission

Job description: Enables transmission of multiple signals with minimal wiring.

Toyonaka Keisou's "Universal Line" multiplex transmission device can send multiple electrical signals with minimal wiring. It is widely used in monitoring systems across various industries, from railways and manufacturing plants to large commercial facilities, for transmitting signals such as troubleshooting and temperature monitoring. Using Universal Line, up to 256 on/off signals and up to 2000 measurement signals can be transmitted over long distances using only two wires. The significant reduction in wiring also lowers construction costs.

Strengths: Enables long-distance transmission regardless of the type of wire used.

Generally, transmission speeds increase to megabits (millions) and gigabits (billions) to send large amounts of data quickly. However, President Katsuya Kotani says that with Universal Line's time-division multiplex transmission, "the communication speed is deliberately kept low." This is because even 500 bits of information per second is useful for remote monitoring that detects changes. Keeping the transmission speed low has many advantages. Existing power lines can be used, and wiring configurations are flexible. It is resistant to electrical noise, and long-distance transmission is possible without repeaters. If you want to add points after the system is installed, you can easily add them. Installation of Universal Line can be done without difficulty by the user. For this reason, the company rarely installs the system, and in some cases, they have never met the users in person.

Expanding applications: Remote monitoring via mobile network

Universal Line can be used in a wide range of industries, including railways, highways, manufacturing plants, and large commercial facilities, simply by changing the sensors. This range extends from anomaly detection to temperature measurement and monitoring. We have also developed devices that allow for remote monitoring using a combination of LAN and Universal Line transmission, as well as the FOMA mobile network. Furthermore, the use of the mobile network has the potential to expand its use to mountainous areas and other locations without power lines. More recently, we have developed "Smart Power 24," which can transmit a 24-volt DC power supply and multiple signals over long distances using only two wires. The principle is time-division multiplexing.

Future Outlook: Increased demand for monitoring mega solar panels.

For monitoring purposes, the system has potential applications in a wide range of fields. Due to limited personnel, it is difficult to expand sales to many new customers all at once. However, recently, there has been increasing demand for monitoring fault locations in mega solar (large-scale solar power plants) panels. The larger the plant, the more panels are used. We anticipate increased demand for string monitoring, which involves connecting multiple panels in series. This is because, with feed-in tariffs expected to decline in the future, ensuring reliable power generation is essential to securing revenue from selling electricity. That being said, the demand for mega solar is temporary. Our basic strategy will be to focus on horizontal expansion, applying the system to different types of plants.

Our company history

Initially, the company was a subcontractor primarily focused on assembly work, often referred to as a "panel maker." Gradually, it developed its own transmission system and established its use as a monitoring system. It is now used for monitoring various types of equipment in railways, highways, manufacturing plants, and large commercial facilities.

We aim to create useful products that can be used for a long time, utilizing technologies that are unique to our company.
