Plastic processing molds and plastic processing products

Advancing mold technology

Yamanaka's ultra-precision forging technology challenges uncharted territory that previous forging techniques have been unable to achieve, creating the cutting edge in this field.

As a pioneer in the industry, Yamanaka is committed to innovation in mold material technology, manufacturing process design technology, and mold production technology, demonstrating a high level of expertise that goes beyond the scope of a typical mold manufacturer.

We evolve molds with unique technologies that cannot be imitated by others.

Before being a manufacturer of products, Yamanaka believes that developing people is its most important corporate mission.
I believe that a strong company is not defined by its size, but by having many employees who strive for personal growth and take on challenges every day.

DEFORM

DEFORM, for which our company is the sole import agent, is a 3D-compatible FE simulator developed by SFTC, Inc. in the United States. It is a specialized plastic deformation simulator software with a long history and proven effectiveness by numerous users.

Combining a user-friendly and powerful interface, rich environmental settings, and a fast development cycle, it enables everything from simple standard analyses to complex, high-level analyses, and is widely used around the world.

Development of a closed-loop forging device that does not use hydraulics

Among the forging processes, closed-loop forging is one method that uses complex mechanisms to produce high-precision, high-value-added products.

Traditionally, presses equipped with hydraulic mechanisms or die sets using hydraulic equipment were used, but these were expensive and had low productivity.

Our company has developed a mechanical occlusion device that is inexpensive, allows for high production speed, and can be handled in the same way as a general die set.

Furthermore, this device can be attached to a mechanical press without the need for special equipment, and it is possible to produce high-precision forged products regardless of the precision of the press itself.

We propose an innovative monitoring system as a measurement solution.

The "Piezo Bolt," a bolt-type piezo sensor with a piezoelectric element embedded inside the bolt, measures load fluctuations and vibrations with high precision.

The "Piezo Bolt" is the industry's first bolt-type sensor and has the following features:
1) A piezoelectric element, which acts as a sensor, is embedded inside the bolt to achieve high responsiveness.
2) Piezo bolts can be installed by replacing standard bolts.
3) The sensor is protected by metal, providing excellent durability and impact resistance.
4) When combined with Developer Sensys, it supports process evaluation such as detecting abnormalities and defects in the manufacturing process.

By monitoring the relationship between measurement data and abnormalities or defects, it becomes possible to understand the "lifespan" and "processing defects" of molds and other components, and to take countermeasures accordingly.

A proposal-oriented mold manufacturer that handles everything from consulting to simulations.

Cold forging dies boasting a top-class market share in Japan.

Mold manufacturing is often described as a "passive" industry, as companies typically wait for drawings from clients before starting production. However, Yamanaka Gokin is attracting attention as a "proposal-oriented" mold manufacturer.
The company primarily deals in molds used to form core components such as automobile transmissions and engines. Its clients include numerous globally renowned automobile manufacturers, and its main business is the design, manufacturing, and sales of automotive parts molds to these companies. Its strength lies in the precision forging technology and know-how accumulated since its founding. In particular, it boasts a top-class domestic market share in cold forging molds, which achieve ultra-precise processing by applying pressure to metal at room temperature.

Quickly with analysis software

The reason this company has enjoyed long-term support in the rapidly changing world of the automotive industry is not solely due to its high level of technical expertise. A major contributing factor is its unique, proposal-based business model, which provides end-to-end services from consulting to post-plasticization simulations.
"The key word is 'perfect product on the first try.' We listen to the manufacturer's needs and the products they want to make, and then plan the optimal process. Furthermore, we use 'DEFORM,' an analysis software specifically for plastic deformation, to perform simulations beforehand, and then conduct test runs with high-precision large-scale press equipment, enabling low-cost and speedy delivery," says President Toshiki Yamanaka.
Instead of simply manufacturing molds, they created a unique system that breaks with conventional wisdom by enhancing value-added services.
The company also sells and supports its analysis software, "DEFORM." They are also conducting research on predicting mold lifespan using their extensive database, offering significant benefits to companies that adopt the software.

Growing together through the "Elder System"

In 2001, the company underwent a generational change from its founder, with Mr. Yamanaka assuming the position of president. Since then, guided by the motto "A company is only as good as its people," the company has implemented various initiatives related to human resource development.
For example, the "Elder System" involves senior employees with 5-6 years of experience providing one-on-one guidance and training to new employees. This not only helps new employees acquire skills, but also provides a valuable opportunity for senior employees to develop their own skills, resulting in significant benefits for both parties.
"We believe that a strong company is not just defined by visible factors such as company size and profitability, but also by the number of employees who grow independently and possess a challenging spirit and the ability to execute," says the president. Backed by solid technology and systems, the company's current goal is "people development."
It appears that we are steadily developing employees who genuinely care about our customers and can demonstrate their creativity.
