Industrial dial thermometers and transformer protection devices
Hyoda Instruments - Thermometers and pressure gauges: Quality and performance for a brighter future.
Industrial dial thermometer transformer protection device
Protective relays (for generators, transformers, and power distribution equipment)
To ensure the safe operation of generators, transformers, and power distribution equipment on a daily basis, our company supplies these protective relays. Protective relays quickly detect any abnormalities during operation, issue alarms, and prevent accidents.
The main protective relays include temperature relays (temperature monitoring), oil flow indicators (oil flow monitoring), dial oil level gauges (oil volume monitoring), shock gas pressure relays (abnormal gas pressure monitoring), shock hydraulic relays (abnormal hydraulic pressure monitoring), leak detectors (oil and water leak monitoring), Buchholz relays (abnormal oil flow and gas detection), discharge devices (abnormal gas pressure monitoring + pressure release to normal pressure), and gas pressure switches (gas pressure monitoring).
These protective relays are used by power companies not only in Japan but all over the world, and our products constantly ensure safety.
Hybrid temperature transmitter
This device integrates a temperature sensor element (resistance thermometer, thermocouple) into the temperature-sensing part of a dial thermometer (mechanical thermometer), enabling both on-site instruction and remote transmission.
One of the key features of this product is that, unlike conventional systems where a dial thermometer for on-site use and a temperature sensor for remote transmission had to be procured separately, this hybrid temperature transmitter allows a single thermometer to serve both purposes.
Firstly, while previously two connection points were needed for attaching the temperature sensor at the measurement location, this can now be reduced to just one.
Secondly, the temperature sensor wiring is housed in a flexible tube along with the dial thermometer's conduit and routed to the dial thermometer's indicator. Therefore, the user can connect the temperature sensor from the dial thermometer's indicator.
As described above, this hybrid temperature transmitter can significantly reduce total costs from ordering to instrumentation work.
High-spec measuring instruments that can withstand harsh environments, vibrations, and shocks.
No. 1 market share for heavy electrical protection equipment.
Hyoda Keiki Kogyo develops and manufactures measurement and control equipment such as thermometers and pressure gauges for various industries. They hold a 90% share of the domestic thermometer market and also boast an overwhelming market share in protection equipment for heavy electrical equipment in power generation facilities and plants.
JR, one of their customers, is the only company certified to supply thermometers for the transformers used in Shinkansen trains. Their thermometers have been installed in trains from the first generation to the latest N700 series. "The Shinkansen runs through mountainous and valley-filled terrain, and for 45 years since its opening, it has been accident-free. To maintain that safety, we cannot afford even the slightest malfunction in our instruments," says President Yoshio Hyoda.
The same "absolute" requirement applies to nuclear power plants. Hyoda brand products are standardized with high-spec specifications, anticipating various problems depending on the application.
Custom orders available from just one piece.
Since its founding, the company has assembled over 10,000 different types of instruments. In 2009, its hybrid temperature transmitter was certified as a unique product by the Higashi-Osaka Brand Promotion Organization. Conventional dial thermometers measure temperature using the expansion and contraction of a fluid, which has the drawback of not being able to measure over long distances. On the other hand, the hybrid type combines the temperature sensor with the temperature sensing element, enabling simultaneous on-site measurement and remote measurement. Because it can perform the functions that were previously handled by separate thermometers, it is being used in applications such as monitoring the temperature on-site in various plants and transmitting the data to the control room.
The ability to produce such highly complex instruments is a testament to the company's history of over 90 years. The company accepts orders for instruments tailored to various usage conditions, even for single units. Assembly is almost entirely done by hand, with repeated prototyping and experimentation, refining the case structure, paint, and welding techniques.
The defect rate is less than 0.1%.
The defect rate is low, at less than 0.1%. In addition to regular training, monthly quality meetings constantly strive for improvement. Furthermore, all employees carry quality policy cards and report their progress toward individual goals numerically. Defective products are processed immediately, ensuring swift and reliable error elimination.
"Japanese manufacturing has been driven by skilled craftsmen who can devise appropriate strategies based on their experience. The transmission of such skills is essential to our company." In today's society, where various industrial systems operate smoothly at all times, the company's products, born from meticulous work, continue to watch over safe and comfortable living.
Our selling points
We provide specialized protective equipment essential for infrastructure development, such as for nuclear power plants and Shinkansen bullet trains.
