SOHLA is a manufacturing cooperative established with the aim of developing small artificial satellites. Currently, participating companies are not limited to Higashi-Osaka but have expanded throughout the Kansai region. The cooperative was founded in 2002 when Japan was in the depths of recession, and the following year, after the start of the artificial satellite project, it received a commission from the New Energy and Industrial Development Organization (NEDO), and in 2009, "Maido-1" was launched from the Tanegashima Space Center.
All planned missions have been successfully completed, and now we are seeing results that are leading to orders for the development of space equipment. Just as the challenging climb of a mountain becomes more appealing with time, a new project into space is underway. To showcase the manufacturing skills of small and medium-sized enterprises to the world using "robot technology," which is a Japanese specialty, SOHLA will take on the challenge of creating the world's first humanoid space robot.
