With the aim of raising the overall level and revitalizing the region, we provide support for corporate research and development and commercialization, industry-related information, patent application support, promotion of collaboration and exchange between companies and between industry, academia, and government, and support for market development.
 
2) Main Initiatives
● Creation of marine-related industries through renewable energy initiatives, etc.
In April 2015, the area off the coast of Kamaishi City was selected as the seventh "Marine Renewable Energy Demonstration Field" in Japan. This project aims to promote the utilization of this demonstration field and advance the region's industrial infrastructure.
Currently, we have received funding from NEDO (New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organization) and are carrying out our project in collaboration with local companies and related organizations.
● Creation of advanced materials processing industries through the promotion of industrial clustering.
In addition to developing special alloys such as COBARION (a cobalt-based alloy) originating in Kamaishi, we are working to strengthen our foundation and cluster our capabilities in composite materials such as CFRP. Through training and technical guidance from experts, we are striving to improve advanced manufacturing technologies and high value-added processing technologies through corporate collaboration.

1) Support for technological improvement and new product development using various equipment at the "satellite" facility.
Various processing machines, measuring instruments, and design equipment can be freely used by local companies for purposes such as improving their technology and prototyping for new product development.
 
2) Conducting company visits to strengthen cooperation with local businesses
We identify new joint research projects between local companies and universities and provide support for securing external funding. Furthermore, we actively conduct company visits to promote industry-to-industry and industry-academia collaboration across a wide area of Iwate Prefecture.
 
3) Support for improving regional technical capabilities through the holding of technical training courses, etc.
We strive to support local businesses and improve their technical capabilities, as well as contribute to the community by utilizing the research results of the university. This includes holding technical training sessions using our facilities, training sessions led by faculty members from Iwate University, and regular "technical consultation sessions" to help solve technical problems in local businesses.

●Features
Cobarion possesses excellent properties such as high ductility, high workability, high mechanical strength, high wear resistance, and high corrosion resistance. Even though it is a cobalt-chromium alloy with almost no nickel content, it is manufactured using Eiwa's unique crystal structure control technology.
 
●Applications
This material is alloyed using a vacuum melting method and supplied to the market as round bars and other materials after undergoing various heat treatment processes. COBARION is suitable for artificial joints in the orthopedic field (hip, knee, elbow joints, etc.) and for orthodontic wires and denture bases in the dental field.
