Characteristics of Fantoni sculptures

Three-dimensional sculpture techniques

● Creating a unique message
Unlike traditional, uniform sculpting methods, Fantoni sculptures allow for three-dimensional expression.
– The carving technique, which creates raised and recessed areas, results in a dynamic, three-dimensional effect.
- It allows for the expression of textures that take advantage of the material's natural feel.
- Because the shadows are clearly defined, there is no need to add color to the carved surface.

Bringing out the natural colors of the stone

Sculptural techniques that allow for the expression of shades and tones.

Fantoni sculptures bring out the natural colors of the stone. Because the sculpting technique allows for the expression of shading, there is no need to use paints or other materials, and the colors hardly fade.

We are committed to promoting the use of domestically produced timber for gravestones.

Job description: Thorough information disclosure to customers in tombstone sales.

Since its founding, the company has been involved in the processing, construction, and sales of tombstones and stone products, and has also expanded into architectural stone materials such as monuments and interiors. Tombstones account for 80% of its sales. The head office factory handles stone processing, and the company has stores in Osaka Prefecture and Kobe City. A tombstone exhibition hall, "Stone Optic," has also been opened near the head office, creating an environment where people can easily visit and see the products. What the company has consistently maintained since entering the market later than others is the disclosure of information to customers. In the past, there was insufficient information in the industry, including pricing, and customers who rarely buy tombstones had few opportunities to learn about market prices and quality. Therefore, in addition to displaying prices and origins, the company actively holds exhibitions, seminars, and consultation sessions.

Strengths: Three-dimensional sculpture introduced through partnership with a US company.

A major feature of the company is its "Fantoni Sculpture," a three-dimensional sculpture that began processing at its head office factory in 1996 through a technical partnership with the American stone company "Rock of Ages." With conventional techniques, deep carving in narrow spaces was difficult due to issues such as the burning of masking rubber, but by improving the shape of the nozzle used to spray the sand used in processing, deep carving in narrow spaces has become possible. This allows the company to carve three-dimensional sculptures and special patterns that are difficult for other companies to do. The company currently holds the patents and design registrations. The company is also considering overseas expansion, and plans to sell to Japanese people living in New York City and in Vietnam, where the temperament is said to be similar to that of the Japanese, within 10 years.

Environmentally friendly: "Eco-friendly gravestones" that shed light on discarded stones.

Just like with wood, the quality of stone is judged best when it has a straight grain, and there are high-grade brands where only 1/100th of the quarried stone can be used for gravestones. This is where they focused their attention: discarded stone. They incorporate the patterns and designs of the stone into their "eco-gravestones." Because it requires design sense and overall skill, it's a highly specialized product with limited personnel within the company, but customers can purchase it at a lower price. If it becomes widespread, it will create a viable industry for the effective use of domestic materials, and the company plans to work on this long-term for the benefit of the gravestone industry, quarries, and customers. In addition, they are promoting the display of their own unique indicator of carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions during the transportation of raw stone, called "Stone Mileage," and eco-driving, which contributes to environmental conservation and human resource development.

Future prospects: Organize and expand cemetery management.

Approximately 20 million graves were erected after the war, and the continuation of these graves has become a challenge throughout Japan. Therefore, a subsidiary company dedicated to cemetery management has been established to systematically provide support such as cemetery management and maintenance, ledger creation, and collection of management fees. Even as the population ages and the number of people responsible for cemetery management decreases, the company aims to maintain and manage these graves properly, contributing to regional revitalization. The goal is to manage 100,000 graves in 4-5 years.

Our company history

We founded this company with the desire to promote Oshima stone from Ehime Prefecture. My inspiration came from meeting Professor Mizuho Odagiri, a theoretical physicist and my mentor, and discovering that one of his students was from Ehime Prefecture. Because each family has different circumstances regarding graves, customization and consulting services are necessary. Considering changes in living environments and the diversification of living spaces, we will manage our business by creating a market together with our customers.

We will continue to provide customers with reliable information to help them make informed decisions.
