A pioneer in the world of magnets that attracts the future

Our main product started with "magnets," which we began handling casually.

Shimonishi Seisakusho, headquartered in Higashi-Osaka, originally manufactured door catches and pencil case fasteners, but a chance encounter led them to start handling magnets, which eventually became their main business. Now, magnet-related products account for approximately 951 TP3T of their annual domestic sales. President Iwao Shimonishi reflects: "When I started the company, I never dreamed that I would be doing the kind of work I do now. I had some connection to magnets because my previous company had products that dealt with magnets, but it was by chance that an opportunity to handle magnets came my way, and before I knew it, we had become a company specializing in magnets."
Currently, in addition to selling individual magnets, the company is introducing a variety of products that utilize magnets, and in recent years has been actively expanding into specialized fields such as sanitary products. The catalyst for this was the development of a certain new product.
The president of a certain company requested a solution to make pachinko balls rise vertically. Lifting something that touches at only two points, like a pachinko ball, vertically is extremely difficult. So, the company conducted extensive research, trying things like attaching rubber strings and devising a mechanism to lift the balls while rotating them in a spiral. The results of this research led to the development of industrial conveying devices such as "Magneconveyor" and "Magneporter." Patents were obtained for these products, and since then, magnet-based products have become one of the company's mainstays.

Perfect magnetic field design simulation using an airborne magnetic field 3D measuring machine.

Another factor contributing to the company's improved performance is the introduction of magnetic field design simulation and a three-dimensional measurement system for airborne magnetic fields.
Traditionally, with products utilizing magnets, it was impossible to verify factors such as the strength of the magnetic force without creating a prototype. However, this device allows for the measurement of the magnetic field lines' range, displaying the results on a computer screen for each magnetic force strength, and simultaneously performing magnetic field design on that screen. This enables accurate data to be obtained without the need for prototypes. By using this magnetic field measuring device, the data can be treated as real-time data, resulting in virtually no errors.
By adopting methods previously only used by major manufacturers, the company's credibility increased, which was then appreciated by its business partners.

Developing wear-free magnetic brakes to realize energy-saving trains

In order to continue developing products based on such advanced technology, it is essential to cultivate talented personnel. "We have many employees who come from the magnet research institutes of major home appliance manufacturers and major metal manufacturers, and these talented individuals are focused on training young people," says the president.
Currently, the company is collaborating with a research team at the University of Tokyo to develop energy-saving trains equipped with wear-free "magnetic brakes." However, since prototypes cannot be easily created, the company's advanced magnetic field analysis capabilities are essential. The president, who has embarked on this exciting new research project to develop the transportation of the future, speaks with conviction: "I want to continue doing new things no matter what. Otherwise, I don't think there's any value in a small company like ours existing."
