To create a Hokkaru tray or box, a polyethylene film is laminated on waterproof paper, created from multiple layers of paper each coated with a waterproofing agent. These Hokkaru paper products are suitable for cosmetics as well as frozen and chilled products. They are also microwaveable. The products can be safely recycled without concern for food being stuck to the container during the recycling process.

Milk cartons are made with polyethylene coated on both sides of the paper. Because Shuei’s products are coated on only one side, they can be sorted and recycled just like milk containers.
